Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, no doubt you’ve heard about Beyoncé co-releasing an activewear clothing line with Topshop, especially considering that Topshop’s Australian stockists are claiming the range has had “one of the most successful launches of any brand”.
Prices start from around $35 and climb up to around $270, so they’re fairly affordable if you’re after some basic pieces to add to your activewear wardrobe.
The name ‘Ivy Park’ is reported to be a combination of Beyoncé’s daughters name, Blue Ivy Carter, and a park in Houston where Queen B allegedly use to venture to for her own exercise and strength training, Parkwood Park.
This line will not only have you looking smick in the gym, they are also perfect for wearing out and about.
It hasn’t all been peaches and cream however, with the brand receiving some backlash due to the lack of plus-size options. While it was reported before its release that the sizing would go up to XXL, it seems retailers are only stocking up to XL. Many are confused considering Beyoncé’s history of advocating and embracing full-figured women and her statement in Elle magazine in relation to the range that, “"I was so specific about the things I feel I need in a garment as a curvy woman, and just as a woman in general, so you feel safe and covered but also sexy. Everything lifts and sucks in your waist and enhances the female form."
